John Smith
Legacy Member – Club Champion 1982, 1985
Years Active: 1965–2020
Best Handicap: 4
Status: Life Member
About John:
John was a pillar of the Cowra Golf Club community for over five decades. His commitment to mentoring young players, volunteering for events, and consistently turning in under-par rounds made him a legend in local golf. He was as kind off the green as he was deadly accurate on it.
“The friendships I found here were always more important than the trophies.”

Margaret “Maggie” Doyle
Legacy Member – Club Champion 1982, 1985
Years Active: 1972–2018
Best Handicap: 9
Status: Founding Women’s Committee Member
About Maggie:
Maggie was one of the first female golfers to break through at Cowra Golf Club and went on to help establish the Women’s Committee. Her presence was felt at every tournament — either competing or helping behind the scenes. Known for her strategic play and infectious laugh, Maggie mentored dozens of new members and always made time to welcome a new face.
“Golf gave me lifelong friendships — and just enough humility to never throw my 7 iron.”

Thomas “Tommo” Reid
Legacy Member – Club Champion 1982, 1985
Years Active: 1958–2001
Best Handicap: 2
Status: Life Member & Greenskeeper Legend
About Tommo:
Before dawn, Tommo was mowing the fairways. By noon, he was sinking birdies. Thomas Reid was both the club’s long-time greenskeeper and one of its sharpest competitors. A craftsman with a mower and a wedge alike, Tommo helped shape the look and feel of the course while quietly mentoring young grounds staff and players alike.
“You can’t fake a good green or a good swing. You’ve got to earn both.”
