Nestled on Mees Street in the heart of the beautiful Central West region of NSW, our club isn’t just about golf; it’s a cornerstone of the Cowra community, woven into its fabric for well over 100 years.

From Humble Beginnings to a Parkland Jewel

Picture this: Cowra, 1904. While the world was changing rapidly, a new passion was taking root right here – the game of golf. Those early swings marked the beginning of a journey that saw the Cowra Golf Club formally celebrate its centenary in 2004, cementing its place as one of the elder statespeople among NSW country golf clubs.

Like the town itself, the club grew and evolved. What started modestly blossomed over the decades into the magnificent 18-hole, par-71 parkland course we cherish today. Thanks to foresight and dedication (and a comprehensive irrigation system!), our course boasts lush, inviting kikuyu fairways and smooth, true bentgrass greens year-round. It’s a layout that offers stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside and demands thoughtful play, winding through mature trees that have watched generations of golfers pass by.

The Legendary Challenge and Country Hospitality

Ask anyone who’s played here, and they’ll likely mention our finishing stretch. Holes 15 through 18 have earned a formidable reputation – often whispered about as “four of the most challenging finishing holes” you’ll find anywhere in the region. They’ve certainly tested the nerve and skill of countless golfers, claiming many a promising scorecard over the years! But conquering them? That’s a feeling you won’t soon forget.

It’s a partnership that keeps the club firmly rooted while looking ahead.

A Hub for Golf and Community

Our modern, air-conditioned clubhouse stands as a testament to this blend of tradition and progress. With panoramic views across the course, it’s the perfect spot to relax after a round. “Jim’s Golf Shop” (our Pro Shop, helmed by our PGA Professional) is ready to equip you, while the Bistro serves up delicious, well-priced meals that have earned rave reviews – some say the view from the dining room is one of the best in town! We’ve even added a kids’ room and playground, making the club a true family destination.

Over the years, Cowra Golf Club has earned its stripes. We’re incredibly proud of our reputation, often hailed as “the Best Course West of the Blue Mountains.” This isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a reflection of the quality and care poured into our course, recognised by golfers across the state.

We’ve been thrilled to host prestigious events like the PGA of Australia’s Legends Tour, bringing seasoned professionals to challenge our fairways during the Cowra Legends Pro-Am. And the excitement is building, as we’ve been chosen to host the prestigious Golf NSW Country Championships on September 20-21, 2025! This honour underscores the calibre of our course and our capability to stage major tournaments, bringing the state’s best amateur golfers right here to Cowra.
